Shobhana Nikam

Shobhana Nikam leads the Legal function and is General Counsel, Diageo India. She is part of the Diageo India Executive and Global Legal leadership teams. In this role, she is responsible for leading the legal function, which balances and mitigates the company’s risks, owns the company’s objectives and partners with the business to help deliver these.

Shobhana is a seasoned Legal leader, with over two decades of experience working in a variety of disciplines within the Legal ambit, encompassing M&A, Litigation and Corporate Governance. Prior to joining Diageo India, Shobhana was with Wells Fargo, where she had accountability for leading transformation efforts in Legal, Regulatory Compliance, Corporate Governance and Business Change Management. She was also instrumental in creating and implementing legal and regulatory risk governance frameworks for the banks’ operations in India and the Philippines. 

Shobhana has held senior roles across varied sectors such as Consumer Goods, Financial Services, Real Estate and Retail; 3M, Fidelity Business Services, Tishman Speyer and Target are some of the companies she has been associated with.  

She is a passionate inclusion and diversity advocate, leading inclusion interventions with a specific focus on LGBTQIA+, veterans and neurodivergent individuals.

Shobhana holds a Master of Laws degree (International & Constitutional Law) from the University of Madras and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Chennai.
